WWE NXT Takeover REvolution Review and Results

IMG_4856.JPG

NXT did it again! They set the world on fire with an epic card and show. REvolution had it all great matches, unbeliveable moves and great entrances. Only one thing about this dissapointed. On the preshow, Corey Graves announced his retirement from in ring competition due to concussions, he will be joining the broadcast team.

Kevin Owens defeated CJ Parker via Power Bomb

We got kicked off with a bang with Kevin Owens making his debut at the top of the show. Kevin did not disappoint. We got a running bomb into the corner from Owens. We got a flipping suicide dive to the outside from Owens that was as good as anyone. Owens did inadvertently get busted open in this. Owens caught a stiff palm punch. Finish saw Owens hit a Owens Breaker and followed by a Power Bomb.

Video of a sit down with Neville. Neville says he’s not responsible for Sami’s self imposed exile if Sami loses. Neville says he has to worry about his own career.

Lucha Dragons defeated Vaudevillains via SDS from Kalisto to retain Tag Titles.

It’s pretty clear what Sin Cara’s job down in NXT is, make Kalisto look good. Kalisto is the clear choice to replace Rey Mysterio as the top Lucha in WWE. That was proven with this title match. There was a back and forth in the beginning but eventually Gotch and English were able to neutralize Cara. Kalisto got the hot tag, then Kalisto hits a corkscrew splash and a rolling kick, this sent both English and Gotch to the outside. Cara and Kalisto went for a suicide dive, but Aiden pushed Gotch out of the way, taking the whole impact. Gotch looked on in shock. Gotch went back in the ring only to get hit with a SDS and get pinned.

Baron Corbin squashed Tye Dillinger

NXT universe counted to somewhere in the 30 seconds range before Corbin hit End of Days for the win. Afterwards, Bull was seen at ringside scouting, he and Corbin had a tense stare down.

Clip of sit down interview with Zayn, talking about needing the title and he took his own safety net away.

Finn Balor/Hideo Itami has defeated Ascension via double foot stomp

The match itself was good not great, but it was Finn Balor who made the whole thing incredible Finn was known all over for his creative war paint and creative entrances for big matches. Finn brought it back! Go watch this entrance, one of the best the WWE has ever seen. For the match itself, Ascension for a good portion of it had the advantage on Itami. Itami gets free of Konnor and makes the hot tag, and Balor comes in with some forearms, then Konnor and Viktor are sent to the floor, Balor lands a somersault dive. Back in the ring Balor goes for a double stomp but Viktor moves and Balor hits a Reversed Bloody Sunday on Viktor but Konnor breaks up the pin. Balor goes for an enziguiri but Viktor moves and takes him down, then Itami comes in and teased the GTS to Viktor but he gets knocked outside. Konnor and Viktor set up for Fall of Man but Itami pulls Konnor outside, then Balor lands a Pele kick, and both Balor and Itami connect with top rope double footstomps, Finn pins Viktor to get the win. Fantastic entertainment from Finn.

Interview with Roman Reigns, because apparently he’s going to be shoved down our throats on NXT too.

Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks via Natural Selection off the top rope, to retain Women’s Championship

A lot of people believe professional wrestling only have women in the big company’s for eye candy. For men to drool over. Those people probably shouldn’t tell Charlotte or Sasha that. Charlotte and Sasha had one of the best women’s matches I have ever seen, they absolutely set the whole women’s division in the world on fire. At one point Sasha hit a suicide dive to the outside on Charlotte.

Back in the ring Banks hit Charlotte with a drop toe hold into the turnbuckle. Sasha then went for the Bank Statement but Charlotte blocked it. Charlotte tried for a Figure Four but Sasha blocked that. After a few quick near falls Sasha started to get frustrated. Charlotte landed a reverse slam and then went onto the top rope. Charlotte missed a moonsault but landed on her feet when Banks rolled away, and Charlotte followed with a somersault senton and followed that with a crucifix powerbomb attempt, but Sasha countered and slammed Charlotte headfirst into the turnbuckle. Sasha then set Charlotte up on the top rope but Charlotte countered by slamming Sasha down and followed with Natural Selection from the top rope for the win.

Sami Zayn defeated Adrian Neville via Helluva Kick to win the NXT Championship

This match started off slow, and for the first time in a long time I really enjoyed the commentary for a WWE show. Neville surprisingly kept trying to slow the match down in the beginning stages while Sami wanted to speed it up. Seriously I cant say enough how good Corey Graves is at commentary. Neville succeeded in slowing it down until Zayn was able to hit huge lariats. Then it got going with both men flying around everywhere.

We got a Blue Thunder Bomb from Sami but Neville kicked out. Crowd chanted and did their usual but it was different. Everyone was clearly caught in the moment of this match, not wanting Sami to lose. Sami kicked out of a huge Sit out Power Bomb. They eventually went into the middle of the ring and just threw Haymakers at each other. Neville went for the Red Arrow but Sami got the knees up and locked in the Koji Clutch. This was awesome. What a week for wrestling. We had a ref bump and Sami checked on him but caught a Super Kick. Sami kicked out.

Back to haymakers in the middle of the ring they went. Which eventually lead to a tornado ddt through the ropes. A Helluva kick and another ref bump after Neville pulled him in the way. Neville brought the belt in and Sami had an internal battle to use it but Sami didnt. eventually we got a buckle bomb followed by a Helluva Kick for the win for Sami. What a fantastic match!

The whole locker room including Kevin Owens came down and celebrated with Zayn. Holding Zayn on their shoulders. Neville and Owens gave Zayn hugs. On his way back up the ramp, Owens attacked Zayn and delivered an apron bomb to Zayn to close out the show.

IMG_4839.PNG
This show was unbelievable from the beginning to Zayn finally getting his title, to the blindside by Owens. REvolution gets an A from me. Go out of your way to watch this if you call yourself a wrestling fan, if you don’t, probably shouldn’t keep watching wrestling.

WWE NXT Takeover: Fatal 4 Way Review

IMG_2446.JPG

After a fun and entertaining pre show we went right into the show and the tag title match kicked us off.

NXT Tag Team Title: Ascension (c) vs Sin Cara/Kalisto

Viktor and Sin Cara got us started, after a few quick moves by Sin Cara, Viktor got the advantage and the punishment started right away. Konnor and Viktor with quick tags and grounded Sin Cara while Kalisto begs for the tag. Crowd was hot from the beginning, the NXT crowd is always great. Kalisto got the hot tag and cleaned house. Sin Cara landed a dive to the outside on both members of Ascension. Very fun opener, once the speed of the challengers got going Ascension was overwhelmed. Kalisto hit the Salida del Sol to get the pin. Rene Young interviews new champs and all of a sudden Sin Cara speaks perfect English, which he couldn’t do 2 weeks ago. Lucha Dragons winners NEW CHAMPS

CJ Parker vs Baron Corbin

Bonus match I guess, Corbin landed one punch and his finisher and it was over. Squash. Baron Corbin wins

Hair vs Hair Sylvester LeFort vs Enzo Amore

Amore and Cass do their thing on the mic before the match started. I’m really entertained by these 2. Amore got the advantage early on and we got a lot of how you doings. Finish saw LeFort distracted by Big Cass taking out Louis who kept interfering and Enzo rolled up LeFort than grabbed the tights. LeFort bailed and left Louis with Enzo and Cass, they dumped the bucket on him. Match wasn’t very good. winner Enzo Amore

JoJo introduced William Regal. Regal showed us a video of KENTA coming to the WWE and out came the man! KENTA! KENTA came out to a roaring KENTA chant. Looks like he won’t be getting the racist gimmick every Japanese wrestler seems to get. KENTA started speaking in Japanese at first but switched to English. KENTA said this was a dream come true. KENTA changed his name to Hideo Itami. Out came the Ascension.

Ascension attacked KENTA and he came right back in the ring. KENTA took them both out and then grabbed a chair and sat in it. Do I have to call him Hideo Itami?

Mojo Rawley vs Bull Dempsey

Rawley ran right into the ring and they brawl from jump street. Bull hit a diving head but and got the pin. Nothing really else to say. winner Bull Dempsey

Cut to parking lot, Enzo and Cass are looking for Louis and LeFort. LeFort bails again, they get Louis. Louis is balled and doesn’t have Eyebrows.

NXT Women’s Championship Charlotte (c) vs Bayley

“Bayley is going to hug you!” Started us out for this one. Bayley showed a serious side and wouldn’t shake Charlotte’s hand in the beginning. Once match calmed down, Charlotte grounded Bayley and went to work. There is no diva in WWE that can do what Charlotte can do with her long limbs, and cheerleader and gymnast backgrounds.

Charlotte controlled most of the match but Bayley showed no quit throughout, even kicking out of a Moonsault before the natural selection did her in. Great match! Sasha came out afterwards and attacked Bayley until Charlotte made the save. winner Charlotte

It’s announced Hideo Itami will be in action next week. His name is KENTA!

NXT championship Fatal 4 Way Tyler Breeze vs Sami Zayn vs Tyson Kidd vs Adrian Neville (c)

Tyson Kidd wore Beats by Dre headphones to the ring, what are the chances that was product placement? They all squared off and broke into different brawls to start, Kidd with Neville and Breeze with Zayn. Zayn got a hold of Breeze cell phone, hit him with it and then took a selfie. Chaos from the beginning.

They all fought on the ramp, Kidd and Breeze double suplexed Neville on the entrance way and then did the same to Zayn on the ramp. Kidd and Breeze isolated Zayn in the ring for a good part and kept Neville out of it. Zayn managed to get in the ring and the action picked up. We got a 1 vs 1 with Zayn and Neville for a few seconds and then it went right back to Zayn vs Kidd.

Tyler finally got some offense in and hit the beauty shot on Zayn and a drop kick on Neville who jumped off the rope. Breeze couldn’t get the pin though. Zayn power bombed Kidd and Breeze off the top rope while Kidd and Breeze suplexed Neville. Match was absolutely awesome. Neville hit the Red Arrow on Zayn but Breeze threw him out of the ring, pinned Zayn but Zayn kicked out.

Breeze attempted the beauty shot but Kidd caught him and applied the sharpshooter. Neville caught Breeze arm before Breeze can tap. Zayn jumped through the ropes and landed a tornado DDT. Awesome stuff. Neville hits a Red Arrow on Kidd who was down from a Helluva Kick and got the pin. winner Adrian Neville

Fun show, NXT delivered again. Main Event was fantastic. Charlotte had another good match, she’s going to be a star. Also saw title change that was desperately needed with Ascension dropping the titles. I recommend watching it on WWE Network.

WWE NXT Takeover: Fatal 4 Way Preview

IMG_2432.JPG

One of the 2 main reasons I purchased the WWE Network at its launch was NXT (the other being all WWE PPV). The weekly NXT shows always have top-notch matches and segments with characters like Tyler Breeze and CJ Parker putting it over the top as one of the best things going in Pro Wrestling. Part of NXT appeal is the 2 hour specials they do every few months. Starting with Arrival on 2-27-14 that saw Match of the Year candidate Sami Zayn vs Cesaro. That momentum was carried to Takeover and now Takeover: Fatal 4 Way. Fatal 4 Way is tomorrow night, the card looks to be stellar once again.

NXT Championship Fatal 4 Way
Adrian Neville (c) vs Tyler Breeze vs Sami Zayn vs Tyson Kidd

Were to start with this one? Zayn, Neville, Breeze, and Kidd have all been on fire since being put as the focal points of NXT, but let’s start with the Champ. Adrian Neville has main evented all 3 NXT specials and had match of the night contenders in the first 2 so far. Neville won the title in a ladder match at Arrival off of Bo Dallas and since has showcased why there is nobody in the world who can fly like the Man that Gravity Forgot. There are a few that can keep up with Neville but no one is better. Neville on the microphone however is a different story. Neville has yet to impress with a single promo, churning out mediocre promo after mediocre promo. This has hurt Neville’s reign and may end up being the reason he may drop the belt tomorrow night.

“Olé, Olé, Olé” Sami Zayn is one of the most anticipated main roster call ups of recent memory. From his classic 2 out of 3 falls match with Cesaro to the Match of the Year candidate rematch at Arrival to his Match of the Night with Breeze at the first Takeover, Zayn simply delivers on the big stages. Zayn is the most polished of the yet to debut main roster competitors, having wrestled all over the world from ROH-Japan. Zayn is ready for the jump, had been for a year and I think if it wasn’t for the injury that sidelined him for months, he’d be up. It’s a matter of time so I really don’t see WWE putting the NXT title on a soon to be called up wrestler but with WWE who knows, we may just see Zayn Helluva Kick somebody’s head off to win that title.

Prince Pretty, King of Cuteville, the Definition of Delicious, whatever nickname Tyler Breeze picks for that day doesn’t matter because in my opinion Tyler Breeze is the best thing going in NXT at the moment. Breeze has it all, the gimmick, the promo skills and the in ring work. From the ring announcer randomly informing us that Tyler is in the building to Breeze selfies, Tyler picked the ball up that Bo Dallas left when Bo got called up and ran with it. My favorite to win this whole thing, Breeze has to walk out the champion, he just has to.

The final participant is Tyson Kidd who has had a resurgence since going down to NXT after being out with injury for a year. Kidd was an afterthought, his WWE career wasn’t going anywhere and people started to know him simply as Nattie’s husband. Tyson is the veteran of the 4, with experience all over the world and a very underrated skill set. Kidd is the last graduate of the Hart dungeon and we all know if you graduated from that dungeon then that means you can flat-out go with the best of them. Even though he’s a long shot to win, Kidd has brought the best out of Neville and Zayn in singles competition and no reason to believe he won’t bring out of the other 3 tomorrow night.

NXT Divas Championship: Charlotte vs Bayley

The next generation of Flair is having a hell of a year, Charlotte distanced herself from the BFFs and struck gold at the first Takeover. Charlotte and Nattie had a great divas match for the title and Charlotte pulled off the win. Charlotte’s first big title defense will be against the lovable only wants a hug Bayley. Bayley has really come into her own in recent months and vaulted her way to a title shot. Bayley last week on NXT made the biggest statement of either Diva when she told Charlotte that she better take Bayley seriously because Bayley is seriously taking her title and then Bayley planted Charlotte with a Bayley to Belly suplex. From that moment it has officially been on!

NXT Tag Team Championship : The Ascension (c) vs Kalisto/Sin Cara

The tag team division in NXT has been a joke for the better part of a year and that coincides with the Ascensions title reign, that isn’t the Ascensions fault either. The WWE failed the Ascension by not giving them any practical title contenders. We’ve seen jobber team after jobber team get destroyed by the Champs and we got bored. Kalisto and Sin Cara are the first team that feel, look and act like a team. This match will be power vs speed, and Kalisto’s second time in as many Takeover shows challenging Ascension for the tag titles. I wouldn’t be surprised if the titles change hands here, it will breathe life into the division, free up the Ascension to move to the main roster and revive the Sin Cara character all in one swoop.

Hair vs Hair Match Enzo Amore vs Sylvester LeFort

The title says it all in this match, this rivalry has escalated to the point were either LeFort or Amore will lose their hair if they lose. Amore and Big Cass have been very entertaining since Amore’s return from injury and I expect them to be the next challengers to whoever wins the tag titles. Other than that this will be the comedic relief match even though both LeFort and Amore can wrestle.

MoJo Rawley vs Bull Dempsey

I’m not going to spend too much time on this for one reason, Mojo Rawley is terrible. Mojo is awful in the ring, and his promo’s stink. The jury is still out on Bull however, its young in his NXT career and he has shown promise with his in ring work, the sample size for his promo’s is too small. Bull should win this one rather easily.

KENTA is also being advertised to be at Takeover, but in what capacity is unknown. KENTA needs to be in a NXT ring immediately. KENTA has been signed for some time now and its time NXT fans, WWE fans and North American fans see how special he really is.

This should be a good show, NXT always brings it when in the spotlight and this will be no exception. Look for the main event to be a match of the year candidate
