WWE Main Event 12-30-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5491

The last Main Event of 2014  is here and gone.  Its been a good year for Main Event, I’ve enjoyed it but let’s get into this one.

Main Event started with highlights of Rollins blackmailing John Cena into bringing the Authority back and the return of Triple H and Stephanie. We went to the ring and Edge and Christian music hit, out they came. For another Cutting Edge Peep Show. Rose was the guest. Edge and Christian made fun of Rose a little bit and then did a 5 second pose with the express and not Rose.

Charlotte vs Sasha Banks

These 2 have been tearing the house down on NXT, so its only right that they get main roster time. Charlotte even repeated the moonsault landing on her feet into a standing senton spot. This wasnt as good as their first 2 but still quality. Charlotte hit a flap jack followed by Natural Selection to get the win. Winner Charlotte

To the back and nobody showed up to Santinos party except for Erick Rowan.

Titus O’Neil vs Justin Gabriel

O’Neil came down to the ring with a mic and said 2015 is going to be his year. Gabriel got some quick strikes in but Titus started dominating with his size and physical offense. Gabriel got a little more offense in but Titus caught him on the top rope, then landed the Clash of the Titus on Gabriel to get the win. Winner Titus O’Neil

A replay was shown of the Daniel Bryan announcement from Raw. That was followed by another cut to the back. R-Truth joined Santinos party, but then R-Truth left.

Uso’s vs Gold and Star Dust non title

So this was a fun match. These 4 picked up right where their rivalry left off. Jey hit an impressive spinning plancha. Star Dust hit a launching spin kick off the chairs. Cole called Star Dust, Cody. Michael Cole is terrible. Crowd was really into this. This match was fantastic for it being on Main Event. Uso’s just look right being the champs. Finish saw Star Dust inadvertently kick Goldust, which lead to the Uso Splash and the win for the Uso’s. Winner The Uso’s

This was a good match to end Main Event for the year. It summed up the year perfectly. Good matches and tv time for people who don’t get it but deserve it.

WWE Main Event 12-23-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5355

Los Matadores kicked us off with the Christmas decorations still on the stage. This weeks wasn’t live. JBL and Cole on the booth not Saxton.

Los Matadores vs Cesaro/Kidd

Cesaro and Tyson got the early advantage with impressive tag team moves. I like Cesaro and Tyson. Give them a run at the titles. After a while, Tyson and Cesaro hit a Spin Kick into a German Suplex combo that was pretty impressive. After a hot tag, one of the Matadores, I couldnt remeber which one got caught with a launching kick to the gut followed by a new finisher that Cesaro and Kidd dont have a name for yet. This thing is sweet! Winners Cesaro/Kidd

New Day interviewed in the back they cut a promo about Dust Brothers not bringing them down, until Star and Goldust interrupt and spout nonsense.

Summer vs Brie

Summer is very athletic and it seems like the wwe are intentionally handcuffing her or something because she was good in NXT but not here on the main roster. This match was dead. It wasn’t that bad but they just couldnt get the crowd really into it. I think its hard for the crowd to care about Brie when her Husband is so over. Brie won with a Missle Dropkick. Winner Brie Bella

Big E vs Star Dust

Started with the weird antics by Star Dust but Big E still getting the advantage. Star Dust finally got Big E down by dropkicking E in his knee. I dont know what it is about Star Dust paint and not Goldust but Star Dust paint always wears off on his opponent. Star Dust managed to hold the advantage for a while targeting the knees and headlocks. Finish saw Goldust inadvertently knock his brother off the top rope which lead to the Big Ending getting Big E the win. Winner Big E

We got the Raw Rebound after the Big E and Rusev match.

Luke Harper vs Jack Swagger

Obviously with these 2 in the match, it was hard hitting and high impact. A little into the match Swagger went for the Swagger Bomb but Luke got the boots up. That lead to a break to promote Slam City, when we came back Luke was beating on Swagger. This went on for a while until it spilled to the outside, where Swagger ran Harper into the guardrail to get the advantage back. From there it was back and forth with just impressive physical strikes. Swagger hit an impressive belly to belly off the top rope. Luke countered a Swagger Bomb into a Catatonic. This was a fun match. Swagger got the Patriot Lock in but Luke got to the rope. Harper threw Swagger out of the ring, when Swagger came back in, Harper hit Swagger with a huge Lariat for the win. Fun strong style type of match. Winner Luke Harper

Like usual I enjoyed Main Event. Fun physical match and great tag team wrestling moves.

WWE Raw 12-22-2014 Review and Results

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5b1/69655333/files/2014/12/img_5327.jpg

So another Christmas episode of Raw, with an appearance from a former superstar dressed as Santa. Another street fight on 34th street. This is becoming a tradition. Let’s count it down as usual.

1. The Hulkster being shoved down are throats

What’s worse than the WWE shoving the same active superstars down our throats weekly? Shoving the retired ones down our throats. Hulk Hogan is one of if not the greatest Pro Wrestler of all time, but that was in the 80s and 90s, we don’t need or want to see him as much in the 2010’s. Hogan’s appeal is centered around the 80’s, doesn’t work now. Once or twice a year is nice but he has officially outworn his welcome back. How are the current stars supposed to grab that brass ring if Vince keeps putting the old geriatrics on the show? Hogan was the man in charge tonight and started the show he made a bunch of matches, this lead to Cena asking for one with Rollins. After a back and forth on the mic, the match is made. Rollins was defeated by Cena after an AA.

2. Dolph steals the show again

Dolph has been carrying this company for a while now. Especially these last 2 months. Dolph has been the best match on the card each night and the must see thing. The sad part? Reigns just got back and he’s getting the push and spot the Show Off deserves. If the IWC hates Cena, they are going to despise Roman. Meanwhile, Dolph had another match with someone he has had dozens with, and it was a bring the house down show stealer. Dolph single handedly made the Intercontinental Championship important again. The IC title is the title in WWE right now, Dolph is that reason. Dolph and Luke Harper put on a great match for the belt last night, this is a must see! Dolph defeated Harper to retain his championship.

3. Dean Ambrose loses….again

I mentioned a few reviews ago that I don’t think this was the right time for this rivalry, no matter how good Bray vs Dean was. I believe it now more than ever. Dean is one of the most popular stars in the company and he continuously loses on big shows. Dean didn’t beat Rollins on any PPV’s. Dean is 0-2 in PPV’s against Bray. Now Dean lost to Bray again on Raw. Yes, Dean won the Tribute to the Troops show but who watches that? Dean needs to be pushed as a main event face that he has been, he needs to win! At a certain point, who cares how great his promos are, that he’s going on last, if he doesn’t win there is no true pay off. This is setting up for a match at the Rumble, if Dean doesn’t win he might as well be considered a glorified Zack Ryder. It wasn’t all gloomy for Dean last night, he did lose the main event but ended the night putting Bray through a table with a flying elbow again.

WWE NXT 12-18-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5260

We get kicked off with the highlight package of NXT Takeover REvolution. That was followed by Adrian Neville making his way to the ring.

Neville talked about Sami Zayn and his match with him at Takeover. Neville said that it should be Sami out in the ring but he isn’t there tonight and that’s because of Owens. Out comes Owens. Neville told Owens what he did was shameful. Owens said if he wanted a fight he’s going to get one.

Following up was Becky Lynch interview, saying she realized that she only needed herself and Sasha Banks. This was followed by a video of Tyler Breeze saying he isn’t going to be around for a few weeks.

Becky Lynch vs Bayley

Becky came out with new gear, its pretty sweet. Bayley took control early and showed a ruthless side. Bayley dominated! Becky couldn’t get anything going until Becky targeted the injured knee. This was another fun Women’s Match. The NXT division destroys the main roster Divas division. Becky was able to apply a 4 legged clover on Bayley’s injured knee to get the win. Winner by Submission Becky Lynch

This was followed by a wwe.com interview with Charlotte. Charlotte gave Sasha credit but said Charlotte proved shes the most dominant women in NXT. It was announced after, that the Sasha vs Charlotte rematch will be next week.

Followed up the Vaudevillains show Regal a video of last weeks tag match, that shows the legal man wasn’t pinned. Regal tells Vaudevillains they will be rewarded a future rematch.

Bull vs Jobber

Bull destroys jobber and wins via flying headbutt, out came Baron. Winner Bull Dempsey

Baron vs Jobber #2

End of Days in 14 seconds, for the win for Baron. Winner Baron Corbin. Afterwards Bull shoved Baron and bailed through the crowd.

They then show us Sami being taken out on a stretcher last week. Enzo, Cass, and Carmella followed making their way down to the ring. Enzo, and Cass did their thing on the mic. Out came Ascension

Enzo and Cass vs Ascension

Cass dominated Viktor until Enzo tagged himself in. Enzo distracted because he was staring at Carmella, got caught by a STO. Viktor pinned Enzo. Afterwards, Ascension said the battle with Hideo and Finn isn’t over. Winner Ascension

Adrian Neville vs Kevin Owens

Owens did the usual heel moves of rolling to the outside every time Neville tried to get something going. This kept going until Owens annoyed Neville to the point he followed outside and Owens took over. They went to a break and came back with Owens in control. Owens hit Neville with a running splash to the corner. Owens dominated from this point. This kept going until Adrian got out-of-the-way of a Stinger Splash type move and Adrian started with the quick strikes speed moves.

Neville went for another top rope move but Owens caught him and countered into a firmans carry gut buster followed by a standing senton. Neville got advantage back with countering a super plex. Owens then got his advantage back by knocking Adrian off the top rope and then a spike DDT from the top rope. Neville hit a suicide cork screw on Owens and Neville landed on his feet! Great match! Finish saw Owens launch Neville into the corner post and it ended in a double count-out. Owens was not happy with that decision and he took it out on Adrian Neville. Owens hit Neville with an Apron Bomb just like he did Sami. Double Count Out

Very good main event and rest of the show was average. Which you have to expect with them coming down from the WWE card of the year. I give it a  B-

WWE Smackdown Live 12-16-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5194

Smackdown was live this week on USA Network for WWE Week. I am a big supporter of making Smackdown live every week as they seem to be better shows. Lets get into it.

Fandango vs Roman Reigns

This wasn’t the expected squash. Fandango got a lot of offense in on Roman, and controlled a lot of the match. Fandango had Roman grounded with a chin lock for bit until Roman was able to get to his feet and land a big diving clothesline. Roman hit a spinebuster, followed by a super man punch followed by a spear to get Roman the win. Winner Roman Reigns

We got our first ad for Smackdown moving back to Thursdays. It was pretty funny actually.

Dean Ambrose made his way to the ring after commercial break. Dean said he figured something out at TLC. That Bray is afraid of him and that this isn’t over. Which prompted Bray to appear on the screen. Bray mumbled some stuff that wasn’t easy to understand. The gist of it was that Dean isn’t finished off yet because Bray is having too much fun.

Uso’s/Erick Rowan vs Harper/Miz/Mizdow

Rowan going twice in an hour tonight, gotta give some credit to the big man. Miz and Jimmy start but Miz instantly tags in Harper. We go to commercial with Harper in control of everything, even telling his team what to do. Miz and Mizdow oblige, scared of Luke. We came back from break with Miz in control of Jey for a few seconds until Jimmy is able to tag in. Jimmy clothesline Miz over the top rope and Mizdow jumped through the ropes himself. Mizdow eventually started mimicking Luke Harper. Miz was not happy! Chaos afterwards. Finish saw Uso’s taking out Harper on a dive to the outside. That lead to Rowan hitting a Big Splash off the top rope to get the win for his team. Fun match, had good spots and comedy. Winners Rowan/Uso’s

Back from break and Jimmy is supporting Naomi backstage, excited for her title match. Naomi tells Jimmy she wants to do it on her own so he wont be at ringside. This was followed by the Raw recap.

Seth Rollins vs Ryback

Seth’s ribs were bandaged up for this. When we came back from the break before the match we got another highlight from Raw. This one was of Ryback and Rusev face off. Rusev attacked Ryback before the match. Rollins got on the mic, and brought up chaos happening because of no authority. Rollins wants to take the night off, but Dolph comes out and challenges Seth tonight and Seth eventually accepts. This was a good back and forth between 2 of the men who’ve carried the WWE through the injuries.

Nikki Bella vs Naomi for the Divas Championship

The Divas got the championship introductions. Was good to see. Nikki got the advantage and started to dominate early. Nikki may be the most improved wrestler on the roster and not just for Divas. MIz comes down to ringside to cheer on Naomi. Naomi got the advantage after that. Naomi hit a cross body and a few nearfalls. Jimmy came down, attacked the Miz causing Naomi to be distracted. Nikki got a small package on Naomi to retain. Winner and Still Divas Champion. Naomi stared a hole through Jimmy after

Adam Rose vs Kane

Bunny was wearing a neck brace. Match started and Rose rolled out to check on the Bunny. Kane also pulling double duty. Rose got Kane off his feet and started dancing for some reason. Rose danced right into a Choke Slam. Kane got the win. Afterwards Kane Tombstoned the Bunny again. Winner Kane

Afterwards they tell us that Ryback is being tested for a concussion

Back from commercial and we get a Bah Humbug promo from Gold and Star Dust. They aren’t fans of Christmas. This is followed by a backstage interview from Seth Rollins. Rollins says he’s going to make sure Cena isn’t succesful at anything he does until he brings the Authority back.

Seth Rollins vs Dolph Ziggler non-title

The Show-Off vs the Workhorse. Also my 2 favorite main roster superstars. Dolph and Seth are carrying this main event scene. After few heel moves of rolling out of the ring we got underway, they went back and forth while JBL, and Cole argued and missed the beginning of a good match. Dolph eventually was forced outside where Noble hit Ziggler behind the referees back and that took us into commercial. They came back from commercial with Rollins in control.

The match eventually spilled to the outside where Dolph took advantage of the bruised ribs with hard shots to the table and stairs. Back in the ring and Dolph had the control, including hitting a picture perfect drop kick.  Ziggler hit a huge face buster off the top rope. These 2 have gone 3 nights in a row with hard-hitting matches. Fantastic main event. Finish saw Noble and Mercury interfering causing them to get thrown out. Rollins was distracted, allowing Dolph to land the Zig Zag for the win. This is awesome to see. Dolph getting the push he deserves, picking up big time main event pins on main event stars.  Winner Dolph Ziggler

I enjoyed this Smackdown it was just the right time and featured the stars that need more time while featuring the main event players. I give it a B

WWE Main Event 12-16-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5122

Main Event on the Network kicked off day 2 of WWE Week. Another 3 hour day of live wrestling was in front of us because Smackdown was live on USA Network tonight. Let’s see how it went down.

Miz TV kicked us off and the host and his stunt double made his way down to the ring. Naomi was the guest and she told Miz she didn’t believe anything he says and sees right through him. Miz says that he got Naomi a title shot on Smackdown later tonight. Naomi starts to look he is falling for it until Jimmy and Jey Uso come running down. Jimmy says he’s going to tell him one more time, to stay away from his wife.

New Day vs Cesaro and Tyson Kidd

Xavier and Kofi the 2 to go for New Day in this one. Xavier and Kofi got the advantage early with some good tag team wrestling. This gimmick for New Day would be given a chance if they explained it better. I like every member of the group but nobody knows what it is. Kofi and Xavier landed a double suicide senton to the outisde. Cesaro and Tyson together is another thing that doesn’t make sense to me. Why are they a team now? Make it work with in a story line please. They cut to the break and Tyson had control on Kofi. Another spot where Tyson wanted Nattie to help them cheat by she refused. Cesaro pulled out the Cesaro swing transitioned into Tyson dropkicking the Kofi. That was impressive! This match was great! Finish saw Kofi and Xavier hit their special finisher. If you have the network go back and watch this, well worth it. Winner New Day

Backstage we go and Rowan is explaining a Chess move to Paige when Titus O’Neil interrupted. Titus made fun of Rowan and then Rowan challenged him to a game. Titus didn’t know how to play and smacked the table, then stormed off.

We got the Raw Rebound after, followed by a preview for Jingle all the Way 2

Naomi apologized to the Miz and Miz tells her that he still has the title match for her but she needs to control Jimmy.

Paige vs Emma

So the WWE does know that Paige is on her roster and she can wrestle? This is the first tv match Paige has had in weeks. Which is ridiculous. Shes one of the best worker on the main roster, she needs to be on TV.Paige had a lot of funny heel moments. Yelling at the crowd to not dare to cheer for Emma. Paige got the win with the PTO.  Winner Paige

Kane vs Erick Rowan

Titus came down to the commentary table for this. Titus made the commentary funny and bearable to listen. Rowan got the advantage early while Cole and Titus went after each other on commentary. Titus was owning Cole. Match was hard to pay attention to the match, listening to Titus and Cole. The match was what you thought it would be Kane and Rowan just throwing bombs and slams at each other. Match did get good after a while, Rowan looked very good in it. Finish saw Rowan land the big Spin Kick on Kane but Kane rolled to the outside. Rowan slammed Kane face on the table and got water all over him. Rowan turned into a choke slam from Kane and Kane got the win. Winner Kane

This was a fun Main Event, nice set up to Smackdown live.

WWE Raw 12-15-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5087.JPG

After a pretty good Sunday that saw Cena put Seth Rollins through a table 3 times, the Chain Gang Soldier had a very rough Monday. It all started well for Cena, Jericho was the GM and he was getting a match with Seth Rollins. Jericho made a cage match as the main event in the opening segment. Jericho also made a match between himself and Paul Heyman for later on in the night. Obviously a set up for a returning star. Let’s count the 3.

IMG_4990.JPG

1. The Beast is loose in the Village again

With it officially being the kick off to Royal Rumble, we all knew Brock was coming back at some point. They advertised the match with Cena the night before on the PPV. Once Jericho made the match with himself and Heyman, it was a guarantee we were going to see Brock on Raw. With the obvious happening it was still nice to see the champion make an appearance. I’m even going to over look the fact that Brock forgot to bring the belt with him, the first time he appeared. I missed not having the champion and deep down so did you. I get what Vince was saying about Brock being a special attraction, he comes beats someone up and leaves, he can’t do that every week but the champion can’t be a special attraction the champion has to be your workhorse. In this segment, Paul tried anything he can think of to get out of the match, even writing Jericho a check. None of it worked, Jericho was going to go on with the match until out came the Beast. Brock destroyed Jericho and eventually landed the F5 to end the segment. To tell you how this Raw was, this was the first must see thing that happened and it happened at the end of the 2nd hour.

IMG_5051-0.PNG

2. Rise of the Roman Empire

Roman is clearly the guy WWE wants to take over Cena’s spot. If that wasn’t obvious go back to TLC when he interfered in Cenas match and then for whatever reason took out Fandango right after Brock took out Jericho. Was that WWE way of foreshadowing? Are they trying to tell us that Roman is definitely the guy to beat Brock at Wrestlemania? I believe the answer to those questions is yes, and it shouldn’t be. That painstakingly awkward promo from TLC proved that. Roman just can’t cut promos, and he’s still green in the ring. Roman clearly has the look and the IT factor but nothing else is good enough.

IMG_5059.JPG

3. The Architect is a workhorse

A dependable person who does a lot of work over a long period of time, is the definition of workhorse. WWE have had a few workhorses, John Cena, Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Triple H, the list goes on but you can add one more to that list, Seth Rollins. It seems every week we mention the good parts of Raw and Rollins is involved in those segments. This rocket ship push that Roman is seemingly getting deserves to go to Rollins. Rollins is better in the ring, on the mic and has been here since his debut. Seth is deserved Superstar of the Year, Seth deserves a title run and Seth earned his spot at Wrestlemania, that all seems to be pushed to the side do to Romans return which will be very unfortunate. On Raw Rollins held his own in the opening segment with 3 of the best talkers in professional wrestling, Cena, Jericho and Heyman. This lead to the cage match which Rollins won after an interference from Brock. After a F5, a Curb Stomp and Heyman/Rollins handshake. Rollins escaped the cage leaving Cena laid out in the ring. Even though it wasn’t a pinfall and it wasn’t clean, it was nice seeing Seth go over here to end the show.

IMG_5081.JPG

The final hour really saved this show. Nothing of interest happened beforehand. This seems like the typical, end of the year blow off Raw. Lesnar and Rollins were the MVPs of the show. I give the episode a hard C

WWE TLC 2014 Review and Results

IMG_4964.JPG

Well that was uh something. If you watch the hour long pre show and 3 hour PPV TLC was 4 hours of boring. Most of the matches had predictable winners. Quite frankly TLC was one of the worst WWE produced PPV I’ve ever seen. Should be noted that New Day defeated Gold and Star Dust in the pre show match.

IMG_4910.PNG

Let’s get into this

Dolph Ziggler defeated Luke Harper in a ladder match to regain the Intercontinental Championship

This match was good, not great. I thought Ziggler and Luke should’ve went on later in the show. It was a ladder match so ladder use is a given but I think it was used too much for 2 of the better workers the main roster has. I would’ve loved to see a wrestling match and then have the ladders come into play later. Ziggler ended up getting busted open from a slingshot with the ladder. Both men has welts, bruises and scrapes over their bodies. Finish saw Ziggler climbed the ladder under the belt, but, Harper stopped him. Harper set up another ladder right next to Ziggler’s. Ziggler knocked Harper off his ladder with a knee type thing. Ziggler climbedback up and grabbed the Intercontinental Championship. This match is worth watching.

IMG_4913.PNG

The Uso’s defeated Miz and Mizdow by DQ

This is where the night began its descent. Miz got booed in his hometown where Mizdow got cheered. That should tell you where this feud should go. They played into the Naomi thing backstage before the match as well as during when they showed her watching on. Miz told Naomi that if he is still champion by end of the night, then that works well for Naomi’s career. The finish saw Miz and Mizdow try to walk out but Jimmy Uso hit a big outside dive on Mizdow. Miz pulled Mizdow in the way. Miz then hit the Uso’s with his Slammy Award getting DQ’d. The actual wrestling was decent but the ending was terrible, this wasn’t a must see match but worth a watch if you have time to kill.

IMG_4918.PNG

Interview backstage with Rollins. Rollins says he’s the future and he’s going to make Cena’s life hell until he brings back the authority. Rollins dedicates his match to the authority.

Big Show defeated Erick Rowan in a Stairs match

This was bad all over. The match had no flow to it and Big Show clearly at the end of his career is just slow and painful to watch. The finish doesn’t make sense for me either because a win for Big Show at this point in their careers did nothing for him. Also you kill all the momentum that Rowan was gaining. Finish saw Big Show choke slam Rowan on the stairs and follow with a KO punch. Show pinned Rowan under the stairs to get the win. You can skip this.

IMG_4923.PNG

John Cena defeated Seth Rollins in a Tables Match

Come on did we really expect anything else to happen? Cena losing would’ve made 0 sense. You need the rubber match for the title between Lesnar/Cena and Heel vs Heel would never have sold. The problem in this match lies in how weak Rollins looked. Rollins needed J&J security to continuously get involved to gain advantages. Seth even went through tables on 3 different occasions. 1st occasion he was AA through the table from top rope but referee didn’t see it. 2nd time he and Cena went through tables simultaneously for a false finish. Cena even had a Super Cena moment by picking up both members of J&J Security and AAing them through a table. Finish saw Big Show come down to help Rollins but Roman Reigns music hit, Reigns came down Superman Punched Big Show and speared him through a Table. Reigns then Superman Punched Rollins, Cena followed with an AA through a table for the win. Not terrible but not good either, average match. Again if you have the time it’s worth a watch.

IMG_4931.PNG

Interview backstage with the Bellas, Nikki said she was going to beat up AJ and Brie said blood is thicker than water.

Nikki defeated AJ via Pinfall to retain Divas Championship

This was terrible! Everybody involved seem to just mail it in. The Divas Division needs an upheaval including AJ. One impressive thing was when Nikki wrapped AJ around the ring post and wrenched back. Finish saw Brie cause a distraction, which lead to Nikki spraying something AJ eyes and following with a Rack Attack for the win. This was extremely skippable.

IMG_4938.PNG

Roman Reigns is interviewed in the back. Roman cut another boring robotic interview. I thought he was taking acting classes to help this? I think Roman somehow got worse. Roman said he’s entering the Royal Rumble. There was an awkward pause in this interview, Roman clearly trying to think of what he’s going to say next. I don’t think Roman has the mic skills for the push he is getting.

Ryback defeated Kane in a Chairs Match via Pinfall.

Admittedly I didn’t have high hopes for this one. Simply because a chairs match is a dumb gimmick. It’s a no DQ match, call it that. Kane achieved his goal, he put Ryback over without making himself look weak. The 2 started the match with chairs in hand and went to work. Finish saw Kane hit a choke slam but Ryback kicked out. Kane then tried for a tombstone on a chair but Ryback countered with a meat hook clothesline followed by a shell shock for the win. You can skip this one also.

IMG_4941.PNG

Rusev defeated Jack Swagger via the Accolade to retain the U.S. Championship

This was just a way to get Rusev on the card. If you’ve seen one of these matches you’ve seen them all. Rusev needs a legitimate feud. A feud that may be some question if Rusev wins. Rusev applied the Accolade for a 2nd time to get Swagger to tap. This one is also skippable.

IMG_4944.PNG

Bray Wyatt defeated Dean Ambrose via Sister Abigail in a TLC Match

This went on last for good reason, it was the match of the night. Bray and Dean beat the ever loving crap out of each other. First spot came when Bray knocked Ambrose off the top rope into a table on the outside. It was all Dean before this. Shortly after Wyatt set up a kendo stick in the corner, on the top rope. Wyatt threw Ambrose into the stick face first. Ambrose kept checking and touching his eye.

Further into the match Ambrose and Wyatt battle up the aisle, with each other taking turns slamming the other into the set, of tables, ladders and chairs. Ambrose lays Wyatt on a table. Ambrose hit a flying elbow onto Wyatt after he climbed up a ladder. This lead to more fighting and Dean finding a giant ladder, setting Bray up on another table and hitting another Elbow Drop.

Back in the ring, Ambrose and Bray kicked out of each other’s finisher. Dean went under the ring and pulled out a TV monitor that was showing the PPV, funny moment as Dean watched himself. Dean then dragged another giant ladder to ringside. Dean hit another Elbow drop on Bray this time through the Spanish announce table. They go back into the ring, Ambrose grabbed the monitor, Dean tried to hit Bray but the cord didn’t reach, Dean tried it a second time and the monitor exploded in Deans face. Dean them stumbled to his feet right into a Sister Abigail and Bray got the pin. Good TLC match with a mediocre ending, I guess it’s a play off of Bray voodoo ways. Well worth a watch.

That put an end to a bad PPV. Which was disappointing because the WWE had a lot of momentum following the NXT show. I give this a D+

As always……

WWE NXT Takeover REvolution Review and Results

IMG_4856.JPG

NXT did it again! They set the world on fire with an epic card and show. REvolution had it all great matches, unbeliveable moves and great entrances. Only one thing about this dissapointed. On the preshow, Corey Graves announced his retirement from in ring competition due to concussions, he will be joining the broadcast team.

Kevin Owens defeated CJ Parker via Power Bomb

We got kicked off with a bang with Kevin Owens making his debut at the top of the show. Kevin did not disappoint. We got a running bomb into the corner from Owens. We got a flipping suicide dive to the outside from Owens that was as good as anyone. Owens did inadvertently get busted open in this. Owens caught a stiff palm punch. Finish saw Owens hit a Owens Breaker and followed by a Power Bomb.

Video of a sit down with Neville. Neville says he’s not responsible for Sami’s self imposed exile if Sami loses. Neville says he has to worry about his own career.

Lucha Dragons defeated Vaudevillains via SDS from Kalisto to retain Tag Titles.

It’s pretty clear what Sin Cara’s job down in NXT is, make Kalisto look good. Kalisto is the clear choice to replace Rey Mysterio as the top Lucha in WWE. That was proven with this title match. There was a back and forth in the beginning but eventually Gotch and English were able to neutralize Cara. Kalisto got the hot tag, then Kalisto hits a corkscrew splash and a rolling kick, this sent both English and Gotch to the outside. Cara and Kalisto went for a suicide dive, but Aiden pushed Gotch out of the way, taking the whole impact. Gotch looked on in shock. Gotch went back in the ring only to get hit with a SDS and get pinned.

Baron Corbin squashed Tye Dillinger

NXT universe counted to somewhere in the 30 seconds range before Corbin hit End of Days for the win. Afterwards, Bull was seen at ringside scouting, he and Corbin had a tense stare down.

Clip of sit down interview with Zayn, talking about needing the title and he took his own safety net away.

Finn Balor/Hideo Itami has defeated Ascension via double foot stomp

The match itself was good not great, but it was Finn Balor who made the whole thing incredible Finn was known all over for his creative war paint and creative entrances for big matches. Finn brought it back! Go watch this entrance, one of the best the WWE has ever seen. For the match itself, Ascension for a good portion of it had the advantage on Itami. Itami gets free of Konnor and makes the hot tag, and Balor comes in with some forearms, then Konnor and Viktor are sent to the floor, Balor lands a somersault dive. Back in the ring Balor goes for a double stomp but Viktor moves and Balor hits a Reversed Bloody Sunday on Viktor but Konnor breaks up the pin. Balor goes for an enziguiri but Viktor moves and takes him down, then Itami comes in and teased the GTS to Viktor but he gets knocked outside. Konnor and Viktor set up for Fall of Man but Itami pulls Konnor outside, then Balor lands a Pele kick, and both Balor and Itami connect with top rope double footstomps, Finn pins Viktor to get the win. Fantastic entertainment from Finn.

Interview with Roman Reigns, because apparently he’s going to be shoved down our throats on NXT too.

Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks via Natural Selection off the top rope, to retain Women’s Championship

A lot of people believe professional wrestling only have women in the big company’s for eye candy. For men to drool over. Those people probably shouldn’t tell Charlotte or Sasha that. Charlotte and Sasha had one of the best women’s matches I have ever seen, they absolutely set the whole women’s division in the world on fire. At one point Sasha hit a suicide dive to the outside on Charlotte.

Back in the ring Banks hit Charlotte with a drop toe hold into the turnbuckle. Sasha then went for the Bank Statement but Charlotte blocked it. Charlotte tried for a Figure Four but Sasha blocked that. After a few quick near falls Sasha started to get frustrated. Charlotte landed a reverse slam and then went onto the top rope. Charlotte missed a moonsault but landed on her feet when Banks rolled away, and Charlotte followed with a somersault senton and followed that with a crucifix powerbomb attempt, but Sasha countered and slammed Charlotte headfirst into the turnbuckle. Sasha then set Charlotte up on the top rope but Charlotte countered by slamming Sasha down and followed with Natural Selection from the top rope for the win.

Sami Zayn defeated Adrian Neville via Helluva Kick to win the NXT Championship

This match started off slow, and for the first time in a long time I really enjoyed the commentary for a WWE show. Neville surprisingly kept trying to slow the match down in the beginning stages while Sami wanted to speed it up. Seriously I cant say enough how good Corey Graves is at commentary. Neville succeeded in slowing it down until Zayn was able to hit huge lariats. Then it got going with both men flying around everywhere.

We got a Blue Thunder Bomb from Sami but Neville kicked out. Crowd chanted and did their usual but it was different. Everyone was clearly caught in the moment of this match, not wanting Sami to lose. Sami kicked out of a huge Sit out Power Bomb. They eventually went into the middle of the ring and just threw Haymakers at each other. Neville went for the Red Arrow but Sami got the knees up and locked in the Koji Clutch. This was awesome. What a week for wrestling. We had a ref bump and Sami checked on him but caught a Super Kick. Sami kicked out.

Back to haymakers in the middle of the ring they went. Which eventually lead to a tornado ddt through the ropes. A Helluva kick and another ref bump after Neville pulled him in the way. Neville brought the belt in and Sami had an internal battle to use it but Sami didnt. eventually we got a buckle bomb followed by a Helluva Kick for the win for Sami. What a fantastic match!

IMG_4833-0.PNG

The whole locker room including Kevin Owens came down and celebrated with Zayn. Holding Zayn on their shoulders. Neville and Owens gave Zayn hugs. On his way back up the ramp, Owens attacked Zayn and delivered an apron bomb to Zayn to close out the show.

IMG_4839.PNG
This show was unbelievable from the beginning to Zayn finally getting his title, to the blindside by Owens. REvolution gets an A from me. Go out of your way to watch this if you call yourself a wrestling fan, if you don’t, probably shouldn’t keep watching wrestling.

WWE NXT Takeover REvolution Preview

IMG_4785-0

It hasnt exactly been a banner year for the world wide leader in sports entertainment. With the whole CM Punk fiasco, The delay of the Network launch in the UK, being well under the subscription goals for the Network in North America, and top money making stars missing substantial amount of time due to injury, WWE just wants 2014 to end. There has been a shining light through all of this and that is NXT, especially the NXT specials and we get another one on December 11th. From Arrival in February until now each NXT special had the wrestling world buzzing in a good way, I dont expect this one to be different. REvolution is headlined by the NXT Title match between Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn, Neville has headlined every NXT special so far. Also on the card will be the Womens title match between Sasha Banks and champion Charlotte, the tag team title match between Vaudevillains and champions Lucha Dragons, and the grudge match between Finn Balor/Hideo Itami and Ascension. Time to jump right in on it all.

NXT Championship Match Adrian Neville (c) vs Sami Zayn, If Zayn loses hes gone from NXT

Sami Zayn is in the same boat as the WWE when it comes to 2014. Sami has built a reputation this year of not being able to win the big one, as a matter of fact he hasn’t won a match on a NXT special yet. Sami lost a classic to Cesaro at Arrival, Sami lost to Tyler Breeze at Takeover, and he didn’t win the fatal 4 way at Takeover 2. The thing that makes these matches interesting is they were the Match of the Night on each of those cards. Sami puts on a show for Full Sail every time that’s why he is clearly the crowd favorite against everyone but the WWE has to realize that Sami has to start winning some of these matches or the crowd is going to stop caring.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Adrian Neville. If I were Neville I wouldn’t want 2014 to end. Adrian has not lost a match on a NXT special yet and like mentioned before, he’s headlined them all. Adrian won the title at Arrival in a ladder match against Bo Dallas, successfully defended it against Tyson Kidd at Takeover and then successfully defended it again at Takeover 2 against Tyson, Tyler and Sami. Adrian is in the running for hottest superstar in WWE, not just in NXT, but because of the constant Neville winning, the NXT Universe has gotten bored, they are chomping at the bit to see a new champ. Neville doesn’t have the mic skills to keep them interested.

So how is this match going to go with such an interesting matchup? I think it’s going to be a last minute entry into Match of the Year candidacy. They’ve had matches before but I think they were being handcuffed by WWE due them not being on a NXT special. Zayn needs to win, WWE needs Zayn to win to make us believe him as a legitimate threat to anything. Neville is the longest reigning champion in history so he’s going to bring it. I see Zayn walking away with the NXT Championship and turning heel in the process. Maybe this is where Zayns real life close friend Kevin Owens makes his debut, helping Sami?

IMG_4783

NXT Womens Championship Charlotte (c) vs Sasha Banks

It’s usually sad when best friends have a falling out, then make it their mission to ruin each other but not in Professional Wrestling! When it happens in Pro Wrestling we get rivalry gold and that’s what this has been. This thing between former BFF’s Charlotte and Sasha has worked well for both. Sasha has shown she can talk with the best females in the business and has the heel role down to a science. Sasha promos and actions when dealing with Charlotte is helping Charlotte come off as the great champion that may not be able to be beat straight up, and transitioned her into a full fledged face. I can’t say enough good things about Sasha performances lately, she has a few small things to work on in the ring but she has the It factor that gets thrown around a lot. This is going to be the first title match of many between these 2 over their careers in the WWE. I have Charlotte retaining but Sasha is the MVP of this rivalry so far.

IMG_4780

NXT Tag Team Championship Lucha Dragons (c) vs Vaudevillains

The tag team division in NXT has come a long way in a calendar year. We’ve gone from Ascension destroying Jobbers weekly because there was no other teams to one of the deepest tag divisions in the business. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 8 legitimate tag teams, that is more than the main roster has. WWE has done a great job of transitioning the Ascension away from the title picture so they can smoothly call them up to main roster. In their place is Vaudevillains. Aiden English and Simon Gotch have picked up the heel ball and ran with it. After weeks of videos mocking Lucha Dragons with midget wrestlers and no response from the Dragons, Vaudevillains get their title shot. Kalisto seems to be the chosen one to take over for Rey Mysterio as the big Lucha wrestler in WWE, so I don’t see him losing the tag titles just yet. Lucha Dragons retain in what is most likely the opener to the show.

IMG_4784-0

Hideo Itami/Finn Balor vs The Ascension

Hideo made his much anticipated debut at the last NXT special, Ascension welcomed him quite rudely. The battle has been on ever since, with the Ascension beating down Hideo most of the time, until Hideo finally brought in a friend. In an even more anticipated debut for me Hideo brought in Finn Balor, the Irish sensation who can do it all. Ever since then Hideo and Finn have been destroying the Ascensions world. I don’t see that stopping in this match. The Ascesnion are on their way to the main roster and this will be their NXT Swan Song. Hideo and Finn win this one.

IMG_4786

 The Debut of Kevin Owens

Also being advertised is the debut of Kevin Owens aka Kevin Steen. Owens is the last of the big summer signings for the WWE to debut. The question is in what capacity does Owens debut? They could put him in a squash but with Corbin and Bull doing that every week it loses its awe factor. They could introduce him like they did Hideo but that would be a little too boring and safe. They can debut him by getting involved in a match, which I think they should do. I think they will do that, its going to be either the NXT Championship match or the Hideo/Finn vs Ascension battle. Sami and Owens are both from Montreal, came up through the Indy’s together, had a classic rivalry in ROH and have a very close friendship. I say Owens interfares on behalf of Zayn, gets him the win because hes tired of seeing his friend fail in the big matches. Zayn down the road takes exception with it, setting up a match at the next NXT special. Thats how I would and how I think Owens will debut tonight.

I don’t have anything left for you to read to get ready for the show, so go sit back and enjoy the show. For those of you that can’t, look for the review of the show after. Ill have all the fall out for you.
