WWE Raw 12-22-2014 Review and Results

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5b1/69655333/files/2014/12/img_5327.jpg

So another Christmas episode of Raw, with an appearance from a former superstar dressed as Santa. Another street fight on 34th street. This is becoming a tradition. Let’s count it down as usual.

1. The Hulkster being shoved down are throats

What’s worse than the WWE shoving the same active superstars down our throats weekly? Shoving the retired ones down our throats. Hulk Hogan is one of if not the greatest Pro Wrestler of all time, but that was in the 80s and 90s, we don’t need or want to see him as much in the 2010’s. Hogan’s appeal is centered around the 80’s, doesn’t work now. Once or twice a year is nice but he has officially outworn his welcome back. How are the current stars supposed to grab that brass ring if Vince keeps putting the old geriatrics on the show? Hogan was the man in charge tonight and started the show he made a bunch of matches, this lead to Cena asking for one with Rollins. After a back and forth on the mic, the match is made. Rollins was defeated by Cena after an AA.

2. Dolph steals the show again

Dolph has been carrying this company for a while now. Especially these last 2 months. Dolph has been the best match on the card each night and the must see thing. The sad part? Reigns just got back and he’s getting the push and spot the Show Off deserves. If the IWC hates Cena, they are going to despise Roman. Meanwhile, Dolph had another match with someone he has had dozens with, and it was a bring the house down show stealer. Dolph single handedly made the Intercontinental Championship important again. The IC title is the title in WWE right now, Dolph is that reason. Dolph and Luke Harper put on a great match for the belt last night, this is a must see! Dolph defeated Harper to retain his championship.

3. Dean Ambrose loses….again

I mentioned a few reviews ago that I don’t think this was the right time for this rivalry, no matter how good Bray vs Dean was. I believe it now more than ever. Dean is one of the most popular stars in the company and he continuously loses on big shows. Dean didn’t beat Rollins on any PPV’s. Dean is 0-2 in PPV’s against Bray. Now Dean lost to Bray again on Raw. Yes, Dean won the Tribute to the Troops show but who watches that? Dean needs to be pushed as a main event face that he has been, he needs to win! At a certain point, who cares how great his promos are, that he’s going on last, if he doesn’t win there is no true pay off. This is setting up for a match at the Rumble, if Dean doesn’t win he might as well be considered a glorified Zack Ryder. It wasn’t all gloomy for Dean last night, he did lose the main event but ended the night putting Bray through a table with a flying elbow again.

WWE Smackdown Live 12-16-2014 Review and Results

IMG_5194

Smackdown was live this week on USA Network for WWE Week. I am a big supporter of making Smackdown live every week as they seem to be better shows. Lets get into it.

Fandango vs Roman Reigns

This wasn’t the expected squash. Fandango got a lot of offense in on Roman, and controlled a lot of the match. Fandango had Roman grounded with a chin lock for bit until Roman was able to get to his feet and land a big diving clothesline. Roman hit a spinebuster, followed by a super man punch followed by a spear to get Roman the win. Winner Roman Reigns

We got our first ad for Smackdown moving back to Thursdays. It was pretty funny actually.

Dean Ambrose made his way to the ring after commercial break. Dean said he figured something out at TLC. That Bray is afraid of him and that this isn’t over. Which prompted Bray to appear on the screen. Bray mumbled some stuff that wasn’t easy to understand. The gist of it was that Dean isn’t finished off yet because Bray is having too much fun.

Uso’s/Erick Rowan vs Harper/Miz/Mizdow

Rowan going twice in an hour tonight, gotta give some credit to the big man. Miz and Jimmy start but Miz instantly tags in Harper. We go to commercial with Harper in control of everything, even telling his team what to do. Miz and Mizdow oblige, scared of Luke. We came back from break with Miz in control of Jey for a few seconds until Jimmy is able to tag in. Jimmy clothesline Miz over the top rope and Mizdow jumped through the ropes himself. Mizdow eventually started mimicking Luke Harper. Miz was not happy! Chaos afterwards. Finish saw Uso’s taking out Harper on a dive to the outside. That lead to Rowan hitting a Big Splash off the top rope to get the win for his team. Fun match, had good spots and comedy. Winners Rowan/Uso’s

Back from break and Jimmy is supporting Naomi backstage, excited for her title match. Naomi tells Jimmy she wants to do it on her own so he wont be at ringside. This was followed by the Raw recap.

Seth Rollins vs Ryback

Seth’s ribs were bandaged up for this. When we came back from the break before the match we got another highlight from Raw. This one was of Ryback and Rusev face off. Rusev attacked Ryback before the match. Rollins got on the mic, and brought up chaos happening because of no authority. Rollins wants to take the night off, but Dolph comes out and challenges Seth tonight and Seth eventually accepts. This was a good back and forth between 2 of the men who’ve carried the WWE through the injuries.

Nikki Bella vs Naomi for the Divas Championship

The Divas got the championship introductions. Was good to see. Nikki got the advantage and started to dominate early. Nikki may be the most improved wrestler on the roster and not just for Divas. MIz comes down to ringside to cheer on Naomi. Naomi got the advantage after that. Naomi hit a cross body and a few nearfalls. Jimmy came down, attacked the Miz causing Naomi to be distracted. Nikki got a small package on Naomi to retain. Winner and Still Divas Champion. Naomi stared a hole through Jimmy after

Adam Rose vs Kane

Bunny was wearing a neck brace. Match started and Rose rolled out to check on the Bunny. Kane also pulling double duty. Rose got Kane off his feet and started dancing for some reason. Rose danced right into a Choke Slam. Kane got the win. Afterwards Kane Tombstoned the Bunny again. Winner Kane

Afterwards they tell us that Ryback is being tested for a concussion

Back from commercial and we get a Bah Humbug promo from Gold and Star Dust. They aren’t fans of Christmas. This is followed by a backstage interview from Seth Rollins. Rollins says he’s going to make sure Cena isn’t succesful at anything he does until he brings the Authority back.

Seth Rollins vs Dolph Ziggler non-title

The Show-Off vs the Workhorse. Also my 2 favorite main roster superstars. Dolph and Seth are carrying this main event scene. After few heel moves of rolling out of the ring we got underway, they went back and forth while JBL, and Cole argued and missed the beginning of a good match. Dolph eventually was forced outside where Noble hit Ziggler behind the referees back and that took us into commercial. They came back from commercial with Rollins in control.

The match eventually spilled to the outside where Dolph took advantage of the bruised ribs with hard shots to the table and stairs. Back in the ring and Dolph had the control, including hitting a picture perfect drop kick.  Ziggler hit a huge face buster off the top rope. These 2 have gone 3 nights in a row with hard-hitting matches. Fantastic main event. Finish saw Noble and Mercury interfering causing them to get thrown out. Rollins was distracted, allowing Dolph to land the Zig Zag for the win. This is awesome to see. Dolph getting the push he deserves, picking up big time main event pins on main event stars.  Winner Dolph Ziggler

I enjoyed this Smackdown it was just the right time and featured the stars that need more time while featuring the main event players. I give it a B

Raw 12-8-2014 Review and Results

IMG_4735.JPG

To be quite frank, for a go home show, the Slammy awards and ROH putting on a barnburner of a PPV the night before, Raw sucked. It was a boring 3 hours, that the only must see thing to happen was Ambrose entrance into the arena.

1. The Slammy awards fell flat

The Slammy awards are a good way to help a struggling talent with a new gimmick. Remember how great Owen Hart was with his 2 time Slammy award winner gimmick? The closest we got to allowing the Slammy become a gimmick for someone is Mizdow won a Slammy but Miz accepted it and talked. Miz even thanked his money maker instead of Mizdow. Also the winners were so obviously rigged from the start. The first award given out on Raw so happen to go to Sting while Rollins was out there, so Rollins took it. Match of the Year went to Team Cena vs Team Authority, now I follow a lot of wrestling fans on Twitter and I didn’t see anyone picking that as MOTY. Which brings us to the most obvious one, Roman Reigns has missed nearly half the year and won Superstar of the Year. That is a joke. We all know Roman is being pushed as the next guy, so WWE put this award on him when he didn’t deserve it.

IMG_4721.JPG

2. Winging the Divas Division

After last night I truly believe that the WWE has no idea what it’s doing in the Divas Division. Since they so obviously fixed the Slammy’s why have AJ win Diva of the Year? It does nothing for her career and doesn’t help anyone else’s, example of that would’ve been Paige’s. Furthermore with the exception of the short shot of the Divas lined up waiting to see who won, Nikki, Brie and Paige weren’t even on the show. AJ was twice, and your champion wasn’t, guess that falls in line with the men’s champion not appearing. I thought this whole thing was a set up to slowly get AJ out of the title picture and lead to Nikki vs Brie at Wrestlemania for the Championship, now it doesn’t look like the case. They’d rather have the same promos and matches they’ve got with AJ for last 2 years. Someone should let AJ know that we get it, she doesn’t look like the typical diva and she isn’t the typical diva, she needs a new shtick!

IMG_4702.JPG

3. TLC Build

The one thing I do believe the WWE did right last night was the build to all the main attractions to TLC. From Ambrose arriving in an ambulance filled with tables, ladders and chairs, to putting in a small hint of doubt to the “experts” who think Cena is obviously going to win. Let’s start with the Stairs match between Show and Rowan. Rowan is being booked extremely strong against Show, getting the advantage in most of the one on one encounters with Show doing everything he can to keep Rowan off him. On top of that last night Rowan took out Harper after a one on one match that Rowan won by DQ. Rowan is being booked perfectly, as long as they stop calling him Big Red and explain to us what a stairs match is. Ryback needs a quality match for his first big 1 on 1 feud and insert one of the most consistent and dependable wrestlers of the last 16 years, Kane. Kane brings out the best in everyone and Ryback is no exception but again what exactly is a Chairs Match? On to the Ladder match which I think should close the show. I understand why it won’t but the way Dolph has been pushed the last month, hes been the MVP of the main event scene and a title match to close the show would be nice to see, its been a while. The seeds of doubt in the Tables Match were planted last night, first with Paul Heyman getting in Seth Rollins head in the back, then Seth with the help of J&J security putting Cena through a table. The Heels stood tall to end Raw, I wouldn’t expect this to be the case on Sunday, as I see all the faces in the main event picture getting wins.
IMG_4733.JPG

Very lackluster and boring Raw. WWE can be better and has to be better. C-

WWE Raw Results and Review 12-1-2014

IMG_4252.JPG

After a tumultuous 5 days due to the bombshell podcast that CMPunk dropped on Thanksgiving, Raw was here. After Raw was the podcast with Austin and Vince McMahon, something that was planned for weeks. I myself was eager to see how the WWE was going to handle this show, they usually reply with a good Raw after something controversial happens and the crowd is always alive for it. The crowd in Tulsa wasn’t. Raw was decent this week. Let’s jump right into the 3 count!

1. Who’s in charge?

It’s been advertised all week and shown on last weeks Raw, the Anonymous GM was returning for 1 week to bring order back to the WWE. Everyone’s favorite laptop failed miserably! Raw kicked off with the Anonymous GM ready to make an announcement but he was interrupted by John Cena, Cena did his thing on the mic and then he was interrupted by Seth Rollins. After a back and forth between Rollins and Cena on the mic, which Rollins held his own. The Anonymous GM announced that it will be Rollins vs Cena at TLC in a Tables match. If Cena loses the match he will lose his #1 contendership. After this it was pure Chaos, Rollins and Kane attacked Cena, Ryback came out to help Cena, Big Show came out to help the heels, then Ziggler came out to help the faces, Harper came out to give the heels the advantage again, and out came Rowan to  help the faces. The heels eventually got the advantage and ended the opening segment with Rollins and J & J security putting Cena  through a table. The Anonymous GM wasnt heard from the rest of the night. I like the different GM every week right now but this laptop is dumb. It doesnt make any sense with what happened the first go around with the Anonymous GM, we all know who it was. I gave this segment a C+

IMG_3730.JPG

2. The Story progression of Ambrose and Wyatt

Once it was clear that Ambrose and Wyatt we’re going to have a program with each other it had the wrestling community buzzing! Everyone knew the potential of this feud, Ambrose and Wyatt have not disappointed. I was hesitant about this feud because both men need a big win in the worst way, but I was wrong. Each promo from both men are gold and the acting is superb! Look at it like this, you know how bad the Bella acting was? That’s how good the Wyatt/Ambrose acting has been. Last night added a new wrinkle to the feud when Dean smashed up Bray’s rocking chair, bringing Bray to almost tears. Finally since the Wyatt debut someone has found a chink in Bray’s armor. I’m looking forward to see how and where this chair angle goes from here. I also would like to see more about Deans dad, that’s an angle they can take and run with, but who am I to complain about anything with the best thing going in WWE right now? A-

IMG_4258.JPG

3. The emergence of Erick Rowan

I’ll be the first to admit, I was not a fan of Erick Rowan in the Wyatt’s. Rowan was bland, offense was boring, wasn’t very good on the mic and was largely overshadowed by the much more polished Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. I was wrong about Erick Rowan, I am sold as a fan. Ever since his return as a singles competitor I’ve enjoyed every segment Rowan has been a part of. Last night the WWE brought a more human element to the 6’8 beast. Rowan has 143 IQ, and makes wine. Last night Rowan had another encounter with the Big Show, this time in a match. Rowan beat the Big Show by DQ after the Big Show attacked Rowan with the steel steps. I like where this is going, Rowan 1 on 1 is getting all of the advantage. With Big Show and Kane in their 40s the WWE needs that next big guy, Rowan can be that big guy and this can be the passing of the torch. Rowan HAS to win this feud.

Rowan officially arrived in the main event scene later in the show when after the 6 man tag between Harper/Rollins/Kane and Ziggler/Cena/Ryback broke down after Ziggler pinned Harper.  The Big Show came out and cleaned house of Ziggler, Cena and Ryback, until Rowan came out with steel steps in hand. Rowan took out Rollins, Kane and Harper with the steps outside of the ring. The 4 faces focused their attention on Show, with Ziggler, Ryback and Cena getting their shots in. After an AA from Cena, the 3 men from the tag match picked Show up and let Rowan smash Big Show with the steel steps. The show ended with Rowan standing over the Big Show. A star was born, now its time for the WWE to do this right. Give him a face mouth piece and the sky is the limit for Erick Rowan. B+

WWE Raw 11-10-14 Results and Review

10748654_643404646359_1436812011_n

Raw was a pre recording on the USA Network last night because it emanated live from Liverpool, England, earlier in the day. The UK crowd is always unpredictable and can be a problem for WWE. Give them a reason and they take over, WWE gave them a reason. WWE delayed the launch of WWE Network over there, 20 minutes before it was supposed to launch. The Liverpool crowd let the WWE know their anger. The theme of the night was summed up for them in all the chants of “Where’s our Network?!”

John Cena music hit to begin the show. Cena came down to Liverpool singing John Cena Sucks to the tune of Cena’s theme. Cena talked about nobody wanting to be on his team because the Authority keeps trying to wipe them out like Zack Ryder. Ryder got wiped out after one tweet. Yeah, that’s it John, Authority is afraid of Zack Ryder. John then mentions that he got Swagger to agree to join Team Cena. Rybacks music hits after Cena calls him out. As soon as Ryback tried to talk, the Authority music plays.

As soon as the Authority appeared, the “Wheres our Network?!” chants began. Triple H and Steph cut great Heel promos, Steph even managed to get the English crowd to boo God Save the Queen. Cena pulled a few one liners out as well. Called Mark Henry who came down with the Authority “Sell out Sexual Chocolate” and called team Authority Wankers. The promo ended with Ryback saying he isn’t afraid of the Authority but John Cena’s name isn’t on the bottom of his checks, then Ryback hits Cena with a Spinebuster.

Seth Rollins defeats Jack Swagger by Curb Stomp

After a good match the finish saw Rollins try for a knee off the apron but Swagger countered and applied the Patriot Lock. The new  stooges distracted Swagger which lead to Rollins throwing Swagger into the ring post. Rollins brought Swagger back into the ring and connected with the Curb Stomp to get the win. After the match Rollins hit Swagger with another Curb Stomp which left Swagger laid out.

Next we got a promo from Dean talking about he and Bray both having skeletons and demons. Dean said that they both are going to go down together. This was recorded, Dean wasn’t there for the live crowd. That was followed by an interaction with Kane and Ryback in the back with Kane telling Ryback to prove himself later tonight and it planted seeds of a Kane vs Ryback showdown.

Paige defeated Alicia Fox by Rampaige

Paige easily got the pop of the night, her home country went nuts for her. This match was another decent one, Alicia in ring ability is very underrated. Fox held her own in this one but was fighting a losing battle against Paige in Paiges country. Paige hit Alicia with a super kick and then a Rampaige for the win.

Cut to the back with Rusev and Lana walking toward the ring, when Steph stopped and asked about Rusev joining Team Authority. Lana said they are still thinking and brings up politics. Steph told her there are no politics in the WWE. Sure there isn’t Steph. This is followed by another New Day vignette from Xavier Woods.

Back from commercial, Triple H and Steph are watching Vince’s announcement from last week. They have a corny moment just needing each other and they kiss.

The ring is set up for the US Title Ceremony. After the typical Lana promo about Rusev winning the title. 2 guys in suits were with them. One of them said the Kremlin was proud of Rusev. Rusev wanted the Russian National Anthem played but out came Rusev to crash the party and get his rematch.

Rusev defeated Sheamus by Count-out to retain

The crowd wasn’t into this match at all which was lame because it was actually good. Sheamus tried for the Brogue Kick late in the match. Sheamus missed the Brogue Kick when Rusev ducked. Sheamus hit a diving cross body on Rusev. They spilled out to the floor. Mercury and Noble were at ring side, Mercury jumped on Sheamus back when they were outside and Sheamus got counted out.

After the commercial they cut to the back, Steph asks Lana and Rusev again if they will join Team Authority. Steph tells Lana if she scratches Stephs back then Steph will return the favor. Lana accepts the spot in Team Authority for Rusev. Steph also tells Lana to get one thing clear, Steph doesn’t give a damn about Putin.

Cut back to the locker room where Rollins is talking to Ryback. Rollins tell Ryback not to worry about Kane he doesn’t have to take orders from Kane. Rollins is the team captain not Kane.

Miz and Mizdow defeats Los Matadores

Miz and Mizdow had a 3rd come out with them, Mini Mizdow! Hornswoggle dressed like Miz.  Miz eventually tried hit a roll up on one of the Matadores but they kicked out. Diego later hit a suplex on Miz into the ring, Miz rolled through and pinned Diego. Mizdow held on to Miz foot so Diego couldn’t kick out.

Backstage Cena and Dolph talking. Cena says that Swagger is out, so Cena will understand if Dolph wants to back out. Dolph refuses, he says he wants Authority out of power. Triple H comes in to tell Cena he is banned from ringside during Ziggler match with Mark Henry. Then sings Another One Bites the Dust to make fun of Jack Swagger. This was followed by another vignette of the eyes which is so obviously Luke Harper.

Dolph Ziggler defeats Mark Henry by DQ

This was short and got to the point. Ziggler and Henry spilled to the floor. Henry threw Ziggler into the ringside barrier. Henry tried to run Ziggler through the barrier but Dolph moved. Henry grabbed a chair and he hit Ziggler with it and the referee calls for the bell. After the match Henry started to beat down Dolph some more. Before Mark could really hurt Dolph, Big Show music plays. Henry tries to hit Show with the steps but Show rips them out of his hands. Henry bailed after, then Show announced he’s joining Team Cena.

Another New Day vignette is shown but this time it’s Kofi Kingston.

Cut to back where Dolph, Cena are talking to Big Show. They welcome show to team Cena, Cena then says he needs to find 2 more people. Sheamus interrupts and says only one. Sheamus joins Team Cena.

AJ Lee defeats Brie Bella by Black Widow

This was a non title match. It went quick and it wasn’t good. AJ applied the Black Widow. Nikki beat down AJ after the match and stood over here holding the Divas Title.

We got of the war vet walking on Smackdown. Very cool and emotional stuff.

Back to the spot Ryback apparently has moved from in the 2 and half hours of the show so far. Henry came in and planted more seeds of Ryback not joining Team Authority by bringing up Henry beating him at Wrestlemania

Tyson Kidd defeats Adam Rose by Sharpshooter

Erick Rowan eventually came down to the ring goes right past the Rosebuds. Rowan yelled “Shes not here!” and left. The bunny stood on the ring post for some reason but Rose told him to get down. Rose yelled at the bunny which lead to a long enough to distraction for Kidd to apply the Sharpshooter for the win. Afterwards Adam Rose hit the bunny again and left him in the ring by himself.

Cut to the back again, and Team Authority are showing they aren’t a cohesive unit by talking behind Ryback’s back and Ryback walking in on them. Seeds planted everywhere.

A Bray Wyatt promo is shown. This too is recorded because Bray wasn’t there live. Bray said a bunch of stuff, Bray is started to make less sense every promo.

The announce team introduces us to Paul Heyman and Joey Styles who are at the WWE offices. They promote the ECW Exposed show that is going to be shown after Raw, on the WWE Network.

John Cena defeated Ryback by DQ

Yes, it was another DQ finish to the main event of Raw. Through out the match Kane kept looking more and more frustrated. At one point Ryback was thrown into Kane. After that they fought more on the outside. This match wasn’t bad. The finish saw both men going back and forth in the ring until Kane had enough and attacked Cena to cause the DQ. Ryback and Kane get into it. Rollins comes in to break it up but Ryback hit both Rollins and Kane. Kane hits Ryback with a big boot. Cena tries to help but the rest of team Authority jump in the ring and beat down Cena.

Sheamus and Big Show came out individually because you know that’s the smart thing to do against the group. The faces get beat down until Ryback gets back involved and hit a Shell Shock on Kane. Ryback then walks away. We cut to the back with the Authority watching. Then Ziggler is thrown into the couch, Steph and Triple H look shocked. The Power Couple looks up and Luke Harper is standing there. Luke says he’s a team player and show goes off the air.

Decent Raw with most of the participants announced. WWE seems to try harder in front of hostile crowds.

WWE Raw 11-3-2014 Review and Results

raw

After the announcement of the big Team Cena vs Team Authority Survivor Series match. We came in hoping to get a little more insight on who will be the members of Team Cena. We didn’t get complete answers.

Raw started with Vince McMahon coming down to the ring with HHH and Steph. Vince got a huge pop. Vince talked about knowing what its like to have true power and all the things he’s beat in his career. Vince said he wants HHH and Steph to know that feeling so he’s shaking things up. Vince announces that at Survivor Series if Team Cena wins then The Authority will lose its power. Vince said he believes in the Authority. As The Authority is leaving Dean Ambrose music plays, Dean makes his way down to ring shakes Vince’s hand and ignores the other 2. Dean is in the ring for his match with Cesaro.

Back from commercial we cut to the back with Steph and HHH talking to Vince. They go back and forth, hinting at a power struggle on the verge of happening in the WWE.

Cesaro vs Dean Ambrose

Cesaro got cut in the back of his head during this match. Ambrose and Cesaro fought on the outside for a bit, the cut came somewhere out there, possibly when Ambrose slammed Cesaro head off theguard rail. Cesaro needed 5 staples in his head after the match. Bray cut in happens and they go to commercial. This seemed rushed, probably due to the cut. We came back from commercial, Bray is sitting on the entrance in a rocking chair. Cesaro was cleaned up during the break. The end was rushed with Ambrose hitting the Dirty Deeds on Cesaro after a couple of more minutes. Winner Dean Ambrose. Ambrose started to run toward Bray but the cut in happened once again and when it came back Bray was gone with just the rocking chair there.

Cut to the back in The Authorities office, Steph and Triple H start to argue with each other about getting Randy Orton on Team Authority. Triple H called Orton as they went back to the ring.

Jimmy Uso vs The Miz

This was a lot of comedy in this match, while Mizdow did his thing mimicking Miz. Jey Uso mimicked Jimmy. Match was blah, nothing of note other than the mimicking. Mizdow distracted both Uso’s long enough to distract Jimmy as he’s getting in the ring which allowed Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. Winner The Miz

Sheamus vs Tyson Kidd non title

This was a very solid match between the 2 but that was to be expected with 2 of the more underrated in ring performers in the WWE. With the advertised US title match to happen on the WWE Network after Raw went off the air, that means Sheamus was doing double duty. The WWE main roster is very thin at the moment, injuries and no John Cena for this raw, so a few wrestlers had to pull double duty. Surprisingly Tyson picked up the win here. They went to the outside where Sheamus was going to kick Kidd but he hid behind Nattie, then jumped into the ring at 9. Sheamus got counted out. Winner Tyson Kidd

After the commercial The Intercontinental Champion makes his way to the ring. Lilian Garcia introduced us to his opponent but Triple H music plays and out comes the entire Authority. HHH, Steph, Jamie Noble, Joey Mercury, Kane and Seth Rollins. Triple H and Steph both cut a pretty good promo about Dolph joining team Cena, how Dolph will never get the credit if Team Cena wins and will get the blame if Team Cena loses. Triple H says if Dolph joins the Authority he can have what ever he wants. Dolph says all he wants is the Authority to lose all their power. Triple H makes a match for now, Dolph defending his Intercontinental Championship against Seth Rollins.

Intercontinental Championship Dolph Ziggler(c) vs Seth Rollins

Fantastic match. Dolph and Seth are easily top 5 in ring performers in all of WWE. They showed that here. Noble and Mercury eventually interfered in the match by one jumping up on the apron while the other used the rope to clothesline Ziggler. Rollins used this throw Ziggler into the post and then hit the Curb Stomp but before Rollins can pin Ziggler, Orton jumps in and hits an RKO on Rollins. Mercury and Noble think about getting into help but think better of it. Orton walks away. No Contest.

Backstage again and Orton bust into Authorities office. Orton ask for a match with Rollins tonight. If Orton doesn’t get his way he’s going to join Team Cena. HHH says he will give Orton his match only if Orton promises that after the match they shake hands and this whole thing gets squashed, Orton agrees.

Another vignette from the eyes that we saw on Main Event. Looks like Luke Harper. Announce team plays it off like they don’t know whats going on.

Back from commercial and Titus O’Neil is in the ring and talks about being ready if the Authority calls on him. Ryback music hits and out he came. They are going to have a match.

Titus O’Neil vs Ryback

This surprisingly wasnt a complete squash. Titus got in an impressive back breaker on Ryback. Ryback got the win with a Shell Shock. Winner Ryback. It was nice seeing guys on Raw that we usually don’t get to see and no bunny.

Backstage Renée Young interviews Big Show. Show talks about Henry turning his back on him and how Big Show had Henry over for dinner, treated him like a brother. At a point it seemed like Big Show was going to cry again but he doesn’t.

Big Show vs Mark Henry

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, did I mention this match was terrible. Bad match and it lasted forever. They showed Team Authority scouting the match from the back. Henry and Show have wrestled each other tons of times and they have both been in the WWE since the 90’s what more do they need to see? Match spilled out to the floor where Henry hit Big Show with ring steps causing a DQ. Henry than hit the softest Worlds Strongest Slam on the steps. Winner by DQ Big Show

Backstage again! HHH, and Steph talking to Kane about Team Authority. They talk about getting Henry to join their team.

Renée Young interviews Brie Bella but Nikki Bella interrupts and yells at Brie to tell her that Nikki didn’t give Brie permission to do an interview. They both leave, and Renée turns around with Erick Rowan standing there in the sheep mask. Erick Rowan flicks Renée’s hair and says pretty. Renee thanked Erick and then ran.

Nikki Bella vs Emma with AJ Lee on commentary

Emma streak of jobbing continues. Nikki won with the Rack Attack in a nothing match. Winner Nikki Bella. After the match Nikki ordered Brie to go over and slap AJ. Brie did as she was told but then caught a big forearm from AJ. AJ then ran into the ring but Nikki ran from her.

A new Xavier Woods vignette is shown. Xavier was dressed as James Brown leading a church choir. It was borderline racist. The message behind the vignette was “A new day is coming”.

Rusev vs Zack Ryder

Yes, even Zack Ryder got some TV time but not a lot. Match lasted about 2 minutes with Rusev getting the win with the Accolade. The Authority scouted this one too. Winner Rusev. Lana cut a short promo that was followed by Sheamus hitting the ring to sell the title match for WWE Network.

Fernando vs Star Dust

Miz and Mizdow was doing commentary, Star and Goldust at different points interacted with Miz and Mizdow. If this means Miz and Mizdow are getting involved in the title picture. Yes, please. Fernando got the win after interference from El Torito. Winner Fernando

Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins

This was another good one. Seth delivered 2 quality performances. The Authority was at ringside for this all of them but none got involved in the actual match. Shocker, right? A Raw main event that ends in a clean decision. After the match was really getting good, Seth bridged Orton out of nowhere to get the pin. Winner Seth Rollins.

After the match everyone but Triple H and Steph lineup in the ring where Randy shakes everyone’s hand including Rollins, but once he shakes Rollins hand he RKO’s him. Then Randy attacks anything that moves until HHH stops him. Triple H seems to calm Orton down but only for a second and then Orton punches HHH. This lead to Rollins hitting a Curb Stomp on Orton on a table but Triple H still tried to stop it. Orton who cut his head off the table started to crawl toward Triple H but Steph yells at Triple H to finish it so Triple H orders the other Authority members to finish it. They set up Orton on the steps, Rollins Curb Stomps Orton one more time. Orton gets put on a stretcher as the TV portion of the show ends.

US Championship Match Sheamus (c) vs Rusev

This was a good physical match. Rusev is turning into the man to have against the big not as agile men. Sheamus and Rusev. The finish to this saw Sheamus attempt a Brogue Kick but miss and hit the ring post. This lead to Rusev eventually applying the Accolade a 2nd time. Sheamus passed out from the pain. Winner and New US Champion Rusev.

I enjoyed this Raw. The whole thing settled around stakes and importance of a Survivor Series match. Felt like old times. B-

WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 Review and Results

IMG_2809.JPG

Hell in a Cell 2014 is behind us and it was a very controversial HIAC. The reviews and opinions of the fans has been a very mixed bag. With that said why don’t we just jump right in and tell you ours.

The Expert panel kicked us off, during the pre show and it consisted of Paul Heyman, Booker T, Alex Riley and Renée Young. They introduced us to the broadcast team of JBL, King and Cole. Down to the ring and Mizdow TV followed.

Sandow is hosting his version of Miz TV. Miz is Sandows guest. While Miz talked, Sandow mimicked him and mouthed the same words Miz is saying. Sandow also moved in the same actions that Miz did. Sandow is the 2nd in this team and 3rd in the rivalry with Sheamus, yet he’s more over than both the other men. Sandow sucked up to Miz for a while even calling him his best friend. Miz said he appreciated Sandow and he’s a damn good stunt double, and Miz also called Sandow his friend. Sheamus on the Titan Tron interrupted Miz and Sandows hug.

Sheamus doesn’t say anything of note. Sheamus said Sandow should tell Miz to get on his knees and kiss his butt goodbye. Sheamus then Brogue Kicked the camera. Miz looked on scared and Sandow duplicated the look.

We went back to the panel after that, they talked more about the matches on tonight’s card. Eventually they threw it back to ringside for a match on the pre show.

Bo Dallas vs Mark Henry

Bo on the mic said he’s changing his name for tonight only to Bo Washington because he’s ashamed to share the same name as the city they are in. HIAC was in Dallas. The introduction was longer than the match. Bo gets squashed and Henry finally got his win over Bo, lasted about a minute. Winner Mark Henry 1/5

Byron Saxton interviewed Paige and Alicia Fox. Paige said she’s going to rip AJ heart out and steal AJ best friend, the Divas Championship. Alicia and Paige screw with Saxton a bit before the interview is over. They then go back to the panel and talk a little more to close the pre show.

WWE Intercontinental Championship 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match – Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Cesaro

Ok, so usually I start with an opinion about the wrestlers in the match, run down some moments in the match and then talk about the finish. I’m not going to do that, I’m going right to the finish. Dolph won 2-0, clean sweep. This got people in an uproar, they think Cesaro got buried by not getting a fall, I disagree. For years these best of 3 falls matches have been predictable, always 2-1, and never a sweep. They swerved all of us “experts” and that’s always a good thing. Dolph has always had the die-hard fans support for not being put over, he got put over last night. So kudos WWE, first match and it was already a swerve. The 2 falls happened on a Dolph roll up, and later on Cesaro attempted The Neutralizer but Ziggler counters it,with a superkick and a Zig-Zag. Winner and Still Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler 2-0 4/5

They cut to the announce table and the 3 men rundown people who bought it on PPV again. I’m sure the cable and satellite carriers love when they do that.

We go to the back were The Authority is having a discussion until Randy Orton came barging in. Randy ask where Rollins was and if they see him before Orton does, to pass along the message of staying out Orton’s match tonight. Steph said something about Orton using his anger toward Cena, and HHH chimed in to. Trips said that he should focus on Cena and then getting back his title. Orton finished it by saying he will do it the Authorities way but if Rollins isn’t dealt with by the Authority, Orton is going to do it himself.

Loser Must Be Winners Assistant For 30 Days – Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella

This match sums up the type of night the WWE had for in ring work. Nikki and Brie put on the best match by far for both while in the WWE. I didn’t expect much at all but the girls did deliver a quality match. Nikki grabbed Brie by the hair and held Brie up in the air from behind Nikki’s back. Nikki rolled outside, and that lead to Brie doing a suicide dive through the middle rope. Nikki hit the Rack Attack on Brie later on but Brie kicked out. Nikki then hit Brie with a huge forearm and another Rack Attack but Brie couldn’t kick out this time. Winner Nikki Bella. Very decent match for these 2. 3/5

They went back to the panel, Heyman talks about the winner of the #1 contender match being the real loser because they will take on the Beast Incarnate. Booker also said some stupid stuff about shucky ducky or whatever.

WWE Tag-Team Championship – The Usos vs. Goldust & Stardust (c)

There wasn’t much difference between all their other matches, a lot of the Uso matches seem to be the same, no real change. The Uso are one of the best in ring workers in the tag team division but they are getting stale. The Stardust gimmick is on its decline as well. However this was still a good match from the 4. The Dust Brothers used a lot of quick tags to keep control. Goldust got hit with a big superplex. Then one of the Uso’s hit a big splash on Goldust but Stardust breaks up the pin. The other Uso comes in and takes out Stardust. Goldust landed the Last Call  on the legal Uso and pins him. Winners and Still WWE Tag-Team Champions Gold and Stardust. Another good match but seen one of them, seen all of them. Time to mix things up and give the Dust Brothers different challengers. 3.5/5

A Susan G Komen video is shown about a breast cancer survivor. She is then interviewed live at ringside.

WWE Hell in a Cell #1 contenders match John Cena vs Randy Orton

This was a lot better than what most people are giving it credit for, you get that when 2 guys have wrestled each other 8 billion times. The Cell was unnecessary, they didn’t use it that much. Orton controlled most of this match with Super Cena making an appearance at the end. Orton wore Cena out with a chair that he grabbed from under the ring.  The chair was wedged in the rope and a table was brought into play. Cena hit Orton with a diving shoulder block then Cena went for another one and we got our first RKO out of no where.

Orton wasted no time to cover him but Cena kicked out at 2. Afterwards Orton put Cena through the table but yet again Cena kicked out. Orton who is annoyed that he can’t finish Cena off at this point brings the steel steps into the ring. Orton was in his pounced viper stance waiting for Cena to get up to RKO him again. Cena gets up and fights off the RKO attempt. Cena then slammed Orton on the steps followed it by the 5 knuckle shuffle but couldn’t get the pin.

With Cena in control he tried the AA but Orton low blowed him. After more fighting and a failed punt attempt from Orton, Cena attempted another AA but it was countered into the RKO. Cena kicked out again. The finish saw Cena grab another table and AA Orton through it from the top rope for the win. Afterwards Cena and Heyman stare each other down. Winner and New #1 Contender John Cena. Really good match, I’ve seen their Iron Man and past Rumble match live and this is my favorite match of theirs. 4/5

We go to the back where Mark Henry and Big Show are in the locker room, getting Big Show hyped up for his match with Rusev.

WWE United States Championship Sheamus (c) vs The Miz with Damien Mizdow

Mizdow continued his schtick on the outside while the action went on in the inside. Crowd started a Mizdow is Awesome chant. Sheamus hit Miz with the Beats of the Bodhran, while Sheamus did this Mizdow mimicked receiving them on the outside, pretty good stuff. The match eventually went to the outside, where Sheamus attempted a Brogue Kick but missed and hit Mizdow. The action continued after that with Miz getting the advantage, even landing the Skull Crushing Finale but Sheamus kicked out. Finish saw Miz go to the top and attempt something but eats a Brogue Kick and Sheamus gets the win. Afterwards Mizdow came in and laid down next to Miz, selling like he got hit too. Sheamus played around with Miz and Sandow, moving and wiggling Sheamus arm to see if Mizdow would follow suit and he did, they even did the YMCA. Afterwards Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick again on Miz. Winner and Still US Champion Sheamus. Mediocre match that was saved by the comedy of Mizdow. 3/5

In the parking lot we see Brie carrying Nikki luggage. Nikki then ask for the smoothie that Brie was supposed to make her. Brie hands it to her, they go over the ingredients to make sure its just right. Then Nikki spills it on Brie and tells her to make another one.

Rusev vs The Big Show

This one wasnt as good as Rusev vs Show at Night of Champions. Rusev worked slower, probably because of how exhausted Show looked after their first match. Rusev went for the Accolade but Big Show reversed it into a leg submission of his own. After a little time Rusev manages to reach the rope. Rusev got the advantage back and landed a big Suplex on Big Show. Then Rusev hit an impressive drop kick as well. Big Show did eventually lands a spear. Rusev rolled to the outside, and Henry comes down to ring. Back in the ring Big Show landed a choke slam but Rusev kicked out at 2. Henry stayed cheerleading for Show. Finish saw Rusev get the advantage back, Henry jumped on the apron but Rusev knocked him off. Rusev then hit 2 Super Kicks and then the Accolade. Rusev wins when Big Show passes out. Winner Rusev 3.5/5 Still no Henry turn. WWE keeps hinting at it, it will happen.

Dean Ambrose interview backstage was next. Dean cut a good typical Dean promo about how he’sgoing to beat Rollins up. Good stuff.

WWE Divas Championship AJ Lee (c) vs Paige with Alicia Fox

Incredibly this wasnt as good as the Bella diva match, who would’ve thought? Paige dominated most of this match, with a lot of it going to the outside. I like Paige and AJ but this rivalry needs to end or take the step, a ladder or cage match would be perfect. Paige was standing on the guard rail when AJ swept her leg and Paige fell hard on her head. Paige clearly woozy gets rolled back into the ring by Alicia Fox who thought she was helping. AJ from there applies the Black Widow for the win. After the match, Paige slaps Alicia and says its her fault, Paige then leaves and yells at Alicia that Paige hates Alicia. Fox looks on hurt and confused. Winner and Still Divas Champion AJ Lee 2/5. It should benoted that Dallas didn’t do a lot if any CM Punk chants, which is a good thing.

Main Event Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose Hell in a Cell

Dean Ambrose came down first and immediately went under the ring to grab a bunch of chairs, Ambrose also had a bag on his back with a Kendo Stick in it. Side note when Ambrose pulled up the apron to grab the chairs he forgot to pull it back down. A hand came out from underneath to pull it down. Giving away that somebody was under there. It was very subtle so hard to see. Ambrose climbed to the top of the cell before Rollins came out. Rollins came down and was going to climb up but Mercury and Noble wouldn’t let him. Rollins told Noble and Mercury to go up and get them, so they tried.

Noble and Mercury make their way up while Ambrose laughs at them. They get up, Ambrose claps for them and then beats them up with the Kendo Stick. Rollins uses this as a distraction to attack Ambrose. Noble and Mercury held Ambrose down while Rollins wore Ambrose out with the Kendo Stick. Ambrose and Rollins fight on the way down the cage, half way through on the announcer tables side. They brawl back and forth. Ambrose head butted Rollins, their momentum knocked both of them off and through the announcer tables, including the spanish announce table. Out came the stretchers for both men, they are being carried to the back.

Ambrose gets off his stretcher and attacks Rollins, the fight is still on.  They go to the ring and Ambrose is snapping, continuing to say that Rollins stabbed him in the back and now he’s going to do the same and goes to town on Rollins with a chair. They find their way outside the ring, where Ambrose grabs and sets up a table. Ambrose goes back in the ring and lands a suicide dive. Rollins gets advantage back and sets up a table in the ring himself. Ambrose however lays Rollins out on the table that Rollins set up and lands a flying elbow on Rollins putting him through a table. Awesome stuff.

Kane comes through the crowd out of no where and sprays Ambrose with a fire extinguisher from outside the cage. This gave Rollins the advantage he needed to pick Ambrose up and hit a running power bomb through the table that Ambrose had set up earlier. They eventually went back into the ring where Rollins attacked Ambrose with a chair. Eventually Ambrose gets cinder blocks from underneath the ring. Ambrose set Rollins up for the same curb stomp through cinder blocks that Rollins did to Ambrose. Lights go out.

A voice speaking in tongues is heard, lights came back on and Bray Wyatt lantern is in the middle of the ring with Ambrose staring at it. The arena was still partly dark with the Wyatt cell phone lighting the only lighting. A hologram comes out of the lantern, a silhouette of a person, could be Bray, could be someone else. Bray comes from outside of the ring and lays out Ambrose. Lights go off and come back on with Bray in his spider walk position. Bray picks up Ambrose and slams him to the mat, then stares at the lantern. Rollins hesitantly crawls to Ambrose and pins him. Rollins then bails from the cell quickly and stares at Wyatt with Noble and Mercury. Wyatt then lays Ambrose out with the Sister Abigail one more time. Show ended with Bray in the middle of the ring with the lantern and Bray with the cell phone lighting. Winner Seth Rollins 4.7/5

The biggest controversy was in the finish to this match. Most fans were clamoring for Bray to come back to TV but they didn’t want it at the expense of Dean. This worked out a few ways, Seth gets to transition into his program with Orton which elevates him closer to the title picture, Bray comes back with a big rivalry and Dean doesn’t lose clean thus keeping his stock up. I love this finish. I loved this show, very few complaints here. No WWE World Champion on it downgraded it from an A to a B for me and add the minor mistakes, I give this PPV a solid B-. Top 3 for WWE this year.

WWE Main Event 10-7-2014 Review and Results

IMG_2615.JPG

Jumped right into it with the Intercontinental Championship match.

Intercontinental Championship Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Bo Dallas

Cesaro came down to join the commentary team. Cesaro was pretty good on commentary, very witty. This was easily Bo best match since being brought back up to the main roster and to be honest I wouldn’t have minded seeing a title change but it didn’t happen. Bo was caught grabbing the rope for more leverage during a pin attempt and this distraction caused Ziggler to hit the Zig Zag for the win. Decent match. Winner Dolph Ziggler

They replayed the end of the segment with Adam Rose and The Today Show host from last night, maybe to remind us how terrible it was.

Cut to the back and Tyson Kidd demanded a match tonight because he’s his own man. Kane however informs Tyson he already has a match because Nattie already asked to get Tyson a match. Kidd will take on Jack Swagger

Nikki Bella, Summer, Layla, And Cameron vs Brie Bella

This was another terrible handicap match in this Bella feud. Nikki didn’t get in the match until the end of it. Cole and Saxton didn’t even follow the match, they just talked about the Bella feud. Cameron was doing all the work until Nikki hit Summer and then smacked Cameron for the tag. Nikki hit Brie with the Rack Attack for the win. winners Nikki, Summer, Cameron

They then replayed the Rock appearance from last night.

Tyson Kidd vs Jack Swagger

Zeb cut a promo basically saying that Nattie had Tyson’s balls in her purse. Swagger was sporting a new black eye that he must have gotten last night because he didn’t have it in the beginning of the match against Kidd last night. They didn’t get a lot of time but Kidd got the win when he got a pin after Tyson managed to pretty good diving roll up on Jack Swagger, better finish than the one from last nights Raw. Kidd again ignored his wife while celebrating. Winner Tyson Kidd.

We then got a replay of the emotion speech from Joan Lunden. That was followed by highlights of the antics of Dean Ambrose from last night.

Star Dust vs Jey Uso

This was the main event of the night, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating at all when I say Michael Cole and Byron Saxton is one of the worst combination in WWE commentary history, They talk very little about the match. All we heard was about Smackdown during a very entertaining match. The finish saw Star Dust and Jey Uso fighting in the corner with Uso finally getting Star Dust on his back and landed the Uso Splash for the win.  Winner Jey Uso

This Main Event wasn’t as good as the last couple but it did its job.
